Laura, I am the gg grandson of William M. Purser of Simpson County. It is my understanding that he had a brother who went on to Copiah County. I don't know his name but wonder if it was Frederick. While looking through the micro film at The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg I found a Charles Purser from Copiah County who was captured at The Battle of Nashville and spent the rest of the war as a POW in Chicago. All of his muster rolls can be found under The 6th Mississippi Regiment. I don't remember the Company, but they begin with "A" and go thru all of them in the Regiment. William M. Purser was in Company H, 6th Miss. Regt. He enlisted at Westville, MS with a group called "The Simpson Fencibles." My father had told me years ago that we were related to the Copiah County Pursers. He knew Woodrow Purser who served as sheriff of Copiah County. If you or anyone out there knows of the Brother's name I would appreciate any info. I will gladly share what I have. I live in Nacogdoches, Texas and my e-mail address is: Glassjaw@netdot.com Billy
