I am descended from William Purdy of East Gwillimbury Ontario. He was married to Philinda Schermerhorn and it is through their daughter, Nancy, that my line descends. Before going to Ontario they were in Steuben Co New York. William was born abt. 1769. I've been told that William's father was Daniel and I have located 2 Daniel's, Joseph, and William in the 1800 c. for Canisteo, Stueben Co, NY.
I am curious as to whether anyone has any other information on this family as to their origins. I am also interested to try to find out Philinda Schermerhorn's origins as the name Schermerhorn figures in another branch of my family (the Vroomans of Schenectady).
