You are correct. Ira was born November 16, 1840 (the erroneous birth year on his death certificate to the contrary notwithstanding) in Potsdam, St. Lawrence Co., NY, and died April 30, 1920 in Hinton Township, Mecosta Co., MI. He and his 2d wife, Althea, are both buried in Forest Home Cemetery in Greenville.
Ira married (1) Emma Sophia Smith on March 29, 1869 in Lowell, Kent Co., MI (she died the next year), and (2) Althea Burch on December 17, 1878 in Greenville. Ira was also Althea's second spouse, as she had first married Charles A. Durfee in Greenville, with whom she had a daughter, Inez. Althea (who appeared in various records as Lucia or Lucy as well as Althea) was born February 8, 1848 in Cannon, Kent Co., MI, and died April 14, 1909 in Hinton Township, Mecosta Co., MI. She was the daughter of Bedford Burch and Alvira Hartwell. Ira's death certificate confirms that he was the son of Gilbert and Maria.
