Maria (Purdy) Flewelling NY? 1791 - NB 1874.
Maria Purdy b. (probably NY) 1791, d. Kingston Parish, Kings Co., New Brunswick 1874, m. 26JUN1823 Azor Flewelling (b. ca. 1797-1801, d. 16FEB1883, bur. St. James Anglican Ch. Cem. 18FEB1883 aet. 76 (86?)), s/o Enos and Elizabeth (Jewell) Flewelling.
According to, "Ogden family history in the line of Lieutenant Benjamin Ogden of New York (born June 22, 1735-died August 16, 1780) of the Prince of Wales' American Regiment, and his wife Rachel Westervelt, with some account of his ancestry and descendants", Anna S. Vermilye, The Orange Chronicle Co., Orange Co., NB 1906; Maria Purdy was a protégé of Rachel Westervelt. Rachel 1st m. Lt. Benjamin Ogden who d. in the Revolutionary War in 1780. With her sons, Rachel went to New Brunswick in 1783 and remarried to Timothy Wetmore. She, Timothy and two of her sons returned to NY, probably to New York City about 1800. Between then and 1823 (probably earlier) she took in Maria Purdy; possibly related. Sometime before 1823, Rachel, a widow, returned to New Brunswick with at least one son; when Maria met and married Azor Flewelling.
