Benjamin Purdum, Clay Co ILL 1850
Researching Benjamin and Catharine Purdum who were on the 1850 Clay County census. By 1855, John T. and Rebecca Selby were living immediately south of Clay Co. in Wayne County, IL. I think Rebecca (Rebecca Purdom married John T. Selby, Noblesville IN 1843) is the daughter of Benjamin and Catharine. There were two Purdums in Hamilton County by 1835 (land deeds): Benjamin 1834 and Samuel 1835. Samuel appears to have been too young to have a daughter born 1821, but Benjamin did have a daughter the right age, if he's the Benjamin in Ross County, OH. Rebecca born August 1821 in Ohio.
Both couples had a son named Lewis.
