Hi Alan,
There is a conection to the Newbury branch from the Overton branch. My Great-Grandfather Joseph Purdue was born in Overton, (the year escapes me as my paperwork has been put away). He was a master builder and had to move to find work. He went to Inkpen, near Newbury, where he worked on restoring the church. He married his second wife, Georgina Phillips, and my Grandmother was born in Inkpen. If you are interested enough to contact me in the New Year, then I will get my paperwork out. I have a family history on the Purdues going back to 1640, plus interesting stories on the work they did.
Ria.
