You're welcome. Regarding Nathan's birth location...

From the birth records of his siblings on "either side", Nathan was born about 1854 (and definitely between the years 1853 and 1855); his own birth registration either has not survived or for some reason was just not entered. Nathan would have been born the 7th of 11 Purdie children at "Little Lochans" farm house near Inch in Wigtownshire, where his father Nathaniel (19 Nov 1817 -17 Jan 1896) was a Master Shoemaker and, some decades later, took over as the tenant farmer. Nathaniel (sr) married Nathan's mother Jean (or Jane) McMillan at Little Lochans on 25 Aug 1842.

Good luck on your descendants search (this caught my interest as Renfrew is just up the Ottawa Valley from my own place and I hadn't known of an early Purdie presence in the area).
