Hi Nick

I have just checked and it looks as though the message I posted yesterday didn't work so here is my information again.

I am descended from James and Jane as well, my several greats grandfather was their son James who was born in 1800. He became a Woodman and died in 1890. It was fascinating to hear about Andrew and the menagerie because I grew up with a family legend that some one in the family had "run away with a circus" so it's great to know it's true! I eventually found that James and Jane were born in 1700 and 1774 respectively but the Dorset Record Office said that I would have to trawl through the Parish Records for all the neighbouring parishes if they weren't in Puddletown. I have been back to Dorset since and so haven't followed this up yet. Have you found them yet?

Nicola
