Karen, I am also interested in the Punches in Wayne Co MI. My ggreat grandmother was Elizabeth Ann Punches and/or Elizabeth J. Punches. She was called Eliza Punches.
I have not yet found her parents names. Her father was born in PA and her mother born in VT. Eliza was born in
NY and moved to MI when she was about 7 years old. This was about 1840 when they moved from Ontario Co NY to MI. (Per her OBIT). She was born in Gorham on Aug 27 1830 and died January 23 1917 in Major Co OK. She married Elijah M. Cuthbert in MI on Dec 20, 1850. Elijah died in Newton, harvey Co KS March 13 1875. They had
10 children, 5 boys and 5 girls.
Would love to find someone connected to this family. I belong to the Pontius Family Assoc. but have not found
a connection to the Pontius. Punches was Pontius before they moved to NY from PA. Why they changed their
name, I do not know. Kathryn
