I've researched the Bedford Co. Pullens thoroughly because I thought that was our most likely line. Even made two trips to Bedford Co & copied all records and purchased several books. Several of the Lancaster Pullens migrated to Bedford Co. One,Moses, had 4 sons & 2 daughters who moved to TN(not to be confused with Jehu's son Moses). Two of his sons lived in the same TN county as my Pullens. Turned out it was just serendipty that they ended up in the same spot.
Anyway, William Pullen, b.1757, was supposedly the only son of Justice Thomas Pullen from Bedford Co. William was a RW vet who moved to GA and then to AL. Several have gotten into DAR as his descendant. I, personally, am skeptical about his being son of Thomas. Just doesn't make sense based on what is known about William's history and Thomas'.
I have lots of records on this family and I'm even skeptical that Justice Thomas Pullen is even a son of William Pullen of Lancaster. That doesn't make sense either. Until I see the "smoking gun" that William>Thomas>William is the line of descent, I will remain skeptical.
I have a lot of info & records on the various Pullen lines in GA, too.
I find it interesting that there are several Pullen DNA samples and only one match. I wonder how many (including my own line) may not be Pullens at all but "adopted" names that occured down thru the years. It wouldn't be a surprise that some of those folks adopted/changed their names way back in Ol' Virginia.
