You may already know this but the family was in LA in 1900
1900 > LOUISIANA > TERREBONNE > WARD 3
Series: T623 Roll: 584 Page: 89
AVERY       N L       47       M       W       TN
Hamilton was back in Memphis by 1910
1910 > TENNESSEE > SHELBY > 18-WD MEMPHIS
Series: T624 Roll: 1521 Page: 69
AVERY       HAMILTON K       35       M       W       TN
1920 > TENNESSEE > SHELBY > 20-WD; MEMPHIS
Series: T625 Roll: 1764 Page: 170
AVERY       H K       42       M       W       TN

Minnie was not with Hamilton in either 1910 or 1920. And she does not appear when I search for her, so she must have been living with another son, or re-married.
Did you get a death certificate for her from Shelby County?
Assuming N. L. still had assets in Shelby Co., TN, the will would have been filed there, for probate.
You should be able to get a copy of his marriage record from either Shelby County or the State of TN. Try this site:
