Pullen Family Genealogy Forum

Hello Janet and Barbara,
I am also a cousin through the Joseph Hobgood Pullen line. There was donated to Tulane University a box of papers titled Smith-Pullen papers that related to the family of Minerva Anner Smith of Richmond VA, including Civil War correspondence from her brothers in the Confederate Army to her father Edward Warren Smith. Also genealogical notes made by EW Smith's father, Col. William Smith and Col. Smith's Revolutionary War Diary and his origianal Kentucky land grants he received for service. He died in 1800 and letters subsequent during 1st half of 19th century of family unsuccessful efforts to redeem grants-squatters claimed land by adverse possession. These were listed on a finding aid sent to me from Tulane library from a phone call. I have not visited Tulane to see the documents, I only had the aid or list of what they were. Letters from Minerva's brother Sgt. William Virginius Smith, 1836-1864, First Texas Infantry, Hood's Texas Brigade, Woodville Rifles, killed Spotsylvania May 1864.
