Hi Patricia and James,

I posted some queries back in the late 1990s about David Pugh. Since then I have cracked the case and know his ancestry back to Wales in the 1650s. David's father was Samuel Pugh born about 1735 to 1740 in Richmond County, Virginia and died in 1779 in Loudoun County, Virginia. I was not able to determine the maiden name of his wife but it was not Chamberlain. Samuel's father was Henry Pugh baptized on 2 March 1710 in North Farhnam Parish, Richmond County, Virginia and died sometime before 2 June 1766 when his will was proved. He married Sarah Billings about 1730 in Richmond County, Virginia.

James, I am very interested in where you got the name Samuel Billings Pugh that you mentioned in one of your postings. Please tell me where you found that information. I could be Samuel's middle names as his mother was a Billings.

Henry's father was Lewis Pugh born about 1674 in Wales, perhaps Merionethshire where his father David owned land. This is a fascinating story about David Pugh's ancestry. I published an article in March 2008 in the National Genealogical Society Quarterly, Vol. 90, No. 1 about David Pugh and Nancy Minton.

We also have many descendants of Lewis Pugh in the Pugh DNA project which you can read about at www.familytreedna.com/public/Pugh.

Please tell me how you relate to this line. I descend from David Pugh's son Robert Pugh.
