On June 8, 1876, my g-granddaddy Arthur Pue(s), son of Arthur Pue, stonecutter, married Elizabeth Skillen, daughter of Samuel Skillen, farmer, at the Presbyterian Annalong Meeting House in the Parish of Kilkeel, County Down, Ireland. Her residence at the time is listed as Ballyveamore. His is Moneydoraghmore (the handwriting for these locations isn't at all clear on the certificate. Are these local street addresses?) They had a large family, 10 or 11. All but one (Annie) were boys. Several immigrated to the United States around the turn of the century (where some changed the spelling of the surname to "Pugh"). Their names included Arthur III, Hugh, Frank, John and James. Most returned to fight in WW1, where at least 6 sons lost their lives. The military notices of these deaths were mailed to Arthur and Elizabeth, then still resident in Annalong or Kilkeel. My search has grounded at their 1876 marriage. I'd like to learn much more about the Pue and Skillen families of County Down, especially prior to 1876, and gratefully look forward to any information or suggestions.
