I'm sorry, Kathi, but I do not recall ever hearing from you about our shared Poublon/Publow ancestors.
What I have on George Publow, one of the sons of Jean Baptiste Poublon and his wife Lucinda "Lucy" Glascott, and brother of my direct ancestor John Publow (who married Christine McKay/McCoy), is listed below. I hope this information isn't too late, and that it helps you.
George Publow, a carpenter, was born 1832 Watertown, Jefferson Co, NY. I do not have when he moved to Ontario, Canada but on 1 Nov 1852 he married for the first time to Sarah Barrie in Smith Falls, Lanark Co, Ontario, Canada. They had two daughters, Lucinda and Louise Adeline both born in Lanark Co.
I do not know when Sarah Barrie Publow died but on 8 Nov 1859 he married for the second time to Margaret Merritt, the daughter of William Merritt and Margaret unknown, and they had five children, Rachel Ann, William James, Margaret Jane, George H. and Alice Elizabeth.
Margaret Merritt Publow died 4 May 1874, nine days after Alice Elizabeth was born. George and his children must have moved back to Detroit because he married a third and final time fifteen years later, when he was about 57 years old,to Mary J. Lantz in 1889 Detroit. Their one child, Henry Eveleth Publow was born 4 Jan 1892 in Detroit.
74 year old George died 7 Aug 1906 of a cerebral hemorage in Grace Hospital, Detroit, Wayne Co, Michigan. I do not know where he is buried.
Would you mind very much resending the information you had sent in November 2001? I would really like to have your line of descent in our database.
