Kathryn There is little doubt that Jacob Richard Pruitt's parents were Isaac and Mary 'Polly' Stickley Pruitt. Isaac was the only one of Martin and Mary Wood(s) Pruitt's sons who remained in Tennessee the longest. Sometime between 1812 and 1818, Isaac moved the family to present day Greene Co IL. At the time it was Madison Co. When Greene Co was organized, it included some of the family. Jacob and his sister Sarah Catharine married Ruyle siblings - Paralee D and John Wesley. The only thing that can be found regarding Paralee D is the marriage license in Macoupin Co IL. The Ruyle family moved from Macoupin Co IL to Polk Co MO during the 1830's. Then in the 1840's Jacob moved to Greene Co MO in that portion which later became Christian Co. Jacob had at least 2 children by Paralee who were both born between 1835 and 1840, but it appears that they died in the 1840's. It is also suspected the Paralee died in the 1840's too. Where Jacob met Nancy is unknown. I've looked for years and to date can not find any Morrisette who has a daughter Nancy. She appears to have been in her mid-20's when she married Jacob, I've wondered if by chance she could have been previously married to a Morrisette boy and was widowed. I looked at the 1850 census and found a Richard Morrisett living in Greene Co MO too - same township as Jacob Pruitt (Finley). Richard was born about 1817 TN so most likely he's Nancy's older brother or a brother-in-law. All of Richard's children are listed as being born in Missouri, but I cannot find him anywhere in the 1840 census. One day something will be found to confirm that Nancy's maiden name was Morrisett as well as the name of her parents. Until then we can only hope that someone who has the proof will make it known or someone has the means to dig into this mystery. Debbi Notify Administrator about this message?
