After much research I have found that William Leonard Pruitt and his brother William Leslie Pruitt (not Ben) were both adopted by the Johnsons from Bosque County, TX. The two of them show up in the 1920 census with them, but Leslie "took a walk" and never came back, therefore in the 1930 census only Leonard appears with the Johnsons and not in the same Johnson household, but in the home of one of the children from the original Johnson household.
