Hello Judith, my genealogy dates back to John Peter Pruden who was born in Edmonton, Middlesex, England in 1778, he had one sibling; a sister names Christianne. Their parents were Peter Pruden born 1752 in Edmonton, Middlesex, England and Margaret Smith Fraser born 1756 in Edmonton, Middlesex, England. John Peter Pruden came as an apprentice with the Hudson Bay Company on the ship Seahorse 111 when he was only 13 years old. He rose to the rank of Chief Factor and retired to Red River in Manitoba. There is a thorough genealogy of he and his family and his life. I descend from his son Peter Pruden 1807-1889, then his son William 1833-1914, then his son William 1862-1900, his son David 1891-1961 to my dad John Robert Cook Pruden 1921-1998. They were all born in Rupertsland which is now, Manitoba and Alberta.

Who are your Smith relatives - do they come from England, John Peter Pruden's mother was a Smith and we know nothing of her.
