Here are some additional information on Joseph RENE's ancestors:
Louis RENE married to Marie-Michelle PROVENCHER in Nicolet (Quebec) on 25 Sept. 1760, was the son of Jean COLTRET dit RENE married to Marguerite TERRIEN, in Trois Rivieres on 8 June 1717; the latter was the son of Rene COLTRET married to Marguerite GLADU dit COGNAC, about 1686, very likely in Cap de la Madeleine (Quebec). Not much is known on the ancestor Rene COLTRET and his origin in France. An article of interest was written in 1984 by Jacques Saintonge and published in Biographies of Nos Ancetres #8, Sainte Anne de Beaupre (QC), pages 75-81.This article was translated in English by Thomas J. Laforest and published in vol. #8 of "Our French-Canadian Ancestors". (The LISI Press, Palm Harbor, Florida). Gerard Provencher
