Herbert W. Prouty(b.1916, not 1908)was the brother of Dr. Lawrence Prouty (b.1918, not 1919) --I know the surviving members of the family of Lawrence. Parents of Herbert(b. 1916)and Dr. Lawrence Prouty were Winifred(b.1889)and Pruda(b.1890) and their grandfather was Herbert Winchester Prouty(b.1860, Peru, Nemaha, NE)who was the son of Francis L. Prouty(b.1834 Halifax, Windham, VT) and Julia Ann Rugg (b.1835 Leominster, MA) --according to 1860 and 1870 census for Peru, Nemaha, NE and 1900, 1910, 1920 and 1930 census for Denver, CO and confirmed by family accounts of Lawrence, Jr. I have not been able to find any 1850 census records on Francis, or any VT records that connect directly to Francis. I suspect he may be related to Lyman Prouty (b.1868, Marlboro, Windham, VT; lived in PA) since there is mention of a Lyman Prouty grave in the cemetery plot where Francis and Julia are buried in Peru, NE, alongside that of their sons Louis and Frances. The birthdate 1907 for Herbert must be an error unless there is a more distant cousin with the same name. I can't account for such among the descendants of Francis and Julia. Alice.
