Here is the Hugh T. Prouty stuff I have:
Andrews, page 19: "b. ca. 1794, Easton, NY, served in the War of 1812."
Pope, page 206; name only.
LAND RECORDS in Sempronius, Cayuga County, NY:
14 Mar 1815, Book S, p 150:Tirus Prouty and Agnes sell Hugh T. Prouty 50 acre portion Lot 94 for $200.
11 Nov 1816, Book S, p 151:Hugh T. Prouty sells to Walter Wood 50 acre portion of Lot 94 for $500.
NOTE:Husbands would buy property in their own name alone but on sale of property the wife usually would sign to release her dower rights. No wife signed so I assumed that Hugh was not married in 1816.
STUDY FURTHER the following found in Indexes to:
US Census, Ohio, 1830:Prowty, H.T.; page 377; County HUR; Twp RID
US Census, Ohio, 1840:Prouty, H.T.; page 411; County HUR; Twp Ridgefield
-- Louise:You have done many of these.Have you had a chance to see the full census records?
Ohio Wills and Estates to 1850: An Index; author & publisher C.W. Bell; Roots Library, State Archives, Sacramento, CA; RC977.1 BELL-3:
Prouty, Hugh T.; E(state)-1847, HU (county); prl p258; cpj9 p26.
The estate records may clear up whether the next Hugh T. is a son.I will try to get a copy of the estate record from Humboldt County, OH
Will work on Cheney Russell, also.Believe I have stuff on two from different branches.
