Hi Steve. This is a bit obscure I'm afraid but... about two weeks ago there was a picture in the Newcastle Evening Chronicle of a George Proud. The newspaper prints a nostalgia picture every day and this one, originally featured in their paper approx 50yrs ago, showed a man possibly in his late fifties looking at stocks (the kind that people were put in many years ago for misdemeanors) At the time the photograph was taken these were on exhibition and the old boy claimed a particular interest as he had spent a few hours in them as a youngster. My wife and I are certain that the picture was taken in S. Shields. The dates are approximate but put him in your time frame. No relation to me as far as I can tell. The Evening Chronicle is usually co-operative with human interest stories, they are well worth trying. Good luck Notify Administrator about this message?
