My great, great grandfather James Proud was born in 1847 at 35 Black Hill, Benfieldside near Consett. His mother was Sarah, unfortunately there is no father on the birth certificate. He married Barbara Jowcey in 1869 at New Earsdon.
Does anybody know of him or of his whereabouts between birth to marriage?
In 1891 census his place of birth was Willington, Durham, but in 1881 census it was Black Hill.
Also does anyone know of a John Proud born in Willington at the same time
