Leo,

I apologize for not replying sooner. Thanks for your kind words about Blair. Unfortunately, there was a fire in his home around the time of his death and some of his research may have been destroyed. My cousin Walter,(Blair's brother) also of Austin,TX, is looking into that.

Re. your questions. My father (Thomas Ferdinand) and I began looking into the Protzman family tree in the mid 1960s. So I guess you could I'd say I'm an interested, if not avid geneaologist. My dad died last August. What papers we have on the family are in Chicago with my older sister. I hope to go through them in August or September.

As for the name Ferdinand, I'm not sure where it got started. I vaguely recall one of my great aunts (Ferdinand's sisters) saying it was the name of their father's father, ie. my great great grandfather. But I've never seen proof of that.

I've got quite a few questions I'd like to ask you, but I'll save them for another day. Thanks again for sharing so much information. Regards, Ferd Protzman
