I have not found a Pennsylvania connection for your William. I show an Ohio connection just prior to the family moving to Wisconsin and NE Iowa. You have a cousin living in California who told me that the family story goes as follows: "Three brothers jumped ship in America and the named William wound up in Wisconsin. No one knows what became of the other two brothers."
There is no year for their embarkation and no one knows the name of the other two brothers. It is interesting that William's family made their living by fishing the Mississippi river and local tributaries. I have visited Lansing, Iowa and came back with a lot of photos and courthouse records from both sides of the river. I also have a few photos from a short Wisconsin history of the Protsman family of William and his descendants if you do not have them already.
Let me know if you identify anyone of those other two brothers.
