Solomon PERTHERO/PROTHERO--need info on surname

The only record I have of my 5th great grandfather is his marriage record in Effingham Co., GA, 10-25-1768, which records his name as Solomon PERTHERO. I have not been able to find this surname anywhere and have come to the conclusion that the name must have been PROTHERO or some variation thereof. I see from this forum that the name probably originates in Wales. Can someone tell me how to pronounce the name? Also, if anyone has a record of a Solomon PROTHERO (or variation) who lived during the mid to late 1700s, please contact me. His wife was Elizabeth WILES/MILES and I have no idea where he was prior to his marriage in Effingham, GA.
