OLD WRITINGS

Prosser researchers,

I have been reducing the amount of paper in our office/study. As I was going through some of the collected material, I found pages of an old publication that my father had and it had been filed away many years ago. What publication and when it was published I do not know. Some of it was illegible. It was about PROSSER family. My interest in the writings are the following......

Jimmie Prosser sailed from Scotland at an unknown date, and settled in Virginia. He had a son born in 1745 and named Zachariah Prosser. He married and had a son named James Prosser. James settled in Tennessee when it was yet a territory. (Note: Tennessee became a state in 1796)

His son Buckie Prosser was a politician who lived in Lincoln County, Tennessee. He had two sons Tregaer and Grover. Tregaer was a gallant soldier in the Civil War. The other Grover was a furniture manufacturer.

Grover Prosser had a son born in 1844 and named James M. Prosser. He was a lawyer educated in Tennessee.

His son Joseph B. Prosser, born in 1873 was a mechanical engineer who later moved to Texas. He had two sons Irest?? Prosser a lawyer born on 1896, who was educated at the University of Tennessee and Lotten Prosser who___________?? and studied embalming in Chicago.

Irest?? Prosser had two children Joseph Carter Sherman Prosser and Bess?? Prosser a daughter. Lotten L. Prosser had one son Lotten L. Prosser JR who became an engineer and served in World War II as a Major in the Air Force serving in India and China.

If anyone has anything that they may be able to share especially about Jimmie Prosser coming from Scotland and his migration throughout the USA it would be appreciated. I am familiar with the Grover Prosser line but how he is connected to my line I do not know. Recent DNA test do verify that there is a relation.

Thank you!
