Bob,

Thank you for your post here. From family research it was believed that three PROSSER brothers settled in the Chestnut Ridge Community. This Community fringes on the lines of four counties, being Bedford, Lincoln, Moore and Marshall Counties Tennessee. We have tried for years to figure how Grover Morris PROSSER was connected to our line and I think you may be correct here and I think this is what Donna Prosser has concluded. I am a descendant of James PROSSER. William B.(Buchanan - Bucky) was noted in Goodspeed history as being in the area by 1806. At that time the counties as we know them had not been established.

We have always considered the notation on the 1850 Lincoln County, Tennessee Census as gospel as it states that James PROSSER was born in North Carolina. I recently was viewing the 1880 Census of Marshall County, Tennessee and there was a query to my great grandfather Jonathan PROSSER (son of James) as to the birthplace of his father and his response was Georgia. I am beginning to believe that our Prosser family that came to Chestnut Ridge was from Georgia. It is my belief that the three brothers may have been sons of the Old Revolutionary Soldier Otey PROSSER. I have been in contact with some of the researchers of the Washington / Baldwin County Georgia Otey PROSSER line and the three names are beginning to look promising to our line.

I have recently taken the PROSSER surname 37 marker DNA test that Al Prosser is overseeing for the PROSSER clan. I hope to start proving some results.
