Hi Les, We just got back from our trip to Mo. and we stopped at the state library in West Virginia. I was deed looking in Pendleton County, and although I didn't get through very many, I lucked out and came across one that proves the parentage of Henry Propst of Rockingham county, Va. As you see, he was not the son of Nicholas. The information comes from Deed Book 10--pages 421 and 422--Pendleton County W. Va. Date the deed was made was August 21, 1831 The sellers were Elizabeth Propst, widow of Henry Propst, deceased; Reuben Propst and Mary Ann Propst, his wife; John Kaylor and Delila his wife; Samuel Royer and Harriet his wife; Melinda Propst and Mary Ann Propst all of the county of Rockingham, state of Virginia. The buyer was Jacob Propst of Pendleton County, Virginia. Jacob paid one dollar for --"all the right, interest, claim and title in and to a certain tract or parcel of land lying & being in the County of Pendleton, state of Virginia, formerly owned by George Frederick Propst, and by him in his last will and testament bequeathed to be equally divided among his ten children of whom the said Henry was one." The rest of the deed was official language and repetition of names. Hope you are not disappointed to loose Henry, but at least that puts him to rest. Have a good day......Peggy G.
