It has been quite some time since I have thought about this particular ancestor. But, the info I have indicates he was here prior to the Revolutionary War. He was a German immigrant altho when he may have arrived is unknown. There were Probst's who arrived on the ship Squirrel 21 Oct 1761, altho the relatinship to Dr. Henry Propst is not known, at least by me. Dr. (his status as a physician is also questionable, he was known to "physick" folks on occasion)Henry or Heinrich Propst was born about 1740 in Schwaigern, Wurttemburg, Germany and died April 8, 1808 after being struck by lightning while returning to his home from a sick call, in Coldwater Creek, Caburrus Co, NC. He married Catherine Abendschon (her family history is more complete) about 1784 in Mecklenberg Co, NC (or Anson Co, NC). They had 7 sons, Henry Jr, Daniel, Michael, John, Jacob, Valentine, and Mathias. I am descended thru Henry Jr's son Eli Alexander Propst. I can send you copies of all my info if you want.
