Hello Karen,
Benjamin served as part of the Duke of Cumberland's Regiment, eventually receiving a land grant in the Country Harbour area of Nova Scotia in Guysborough County. Many of these men who came to Nova Scotia as Loyalists were captured in battles about 1780 in the US by the British, were forced to join the British army and then became part of this regiment.Benjamin came to Nova Scotia with John and James Proctor (likely brothers). Benjamin sold land to my ancestor John Proctor in 1792.James Proctor was a witness to this transaction so we know these three Proctor men were connected in some way. You can learn more about their likely experiences by reading the pension application of their brother-in-law John Upton. http://revwarapps.org/r10811.pdfhttp://revwarapps.org/r10811.pdf
