WOW!!Thanks so much for diving right in!
You gave so much info in your message- I think I am confused.
Feel free to contact me via my email to discuss this privately if you'd like.
Here's what I can tell you:
My understanding from family conversations was that Cora Linkins Proctor died when my grandmother (born 1919) was in her early childhood, like 10 or so.
If my research is right, I have her death date as 1932, with my grandmom around 13.
I understood you to have said your father was raised by his grandparents, after the death of his parents. Is that correct? His grandparents were Cora and William?I don't have a death date for William yet. Which sibling is your father's parent? Making them your grandparent?
I have that William and Cora had around 9 or so kids. I do have a census listing for them, too: I'll be happy to share. I would LOVE for your dad to help fill in some oral history as my relatives adamantly WILL NOT.
I found an 2006 obit for one of the sons (recently deceased) and he was claiming Piscataway tribe nationality. I had only met one sister of my grandmom's and one brother. I had no idea she had so many.
As I said in my original message, my mom and siblings are secretive about any of us "wanting to know" anything having to do with roots. So please email me and we can swap info if you want. Thanks again!
