Obit: John Robert Proctor b.1918 Sovereign, SK.
PROCTOR -John Robert Proctor was born at Sovereign, SK, August 25, 1918 and received his public and high school education at Sovereign. He was an Amateur Radio Operator, receiving his first licence in 1935 when 17 years old. From 1940-1947 he worked as a Commercial Radio Operator at various airports in Western Canada and in the Yukon Territory. At this time he returned to Sovereign and farmed until he retired in 1978. Jack was an avid curler and enjoyed watching curling on TV. Since 1994, Jack lived in the Kyle & District Health Care Centre. The Centre soon became home where he enjoyed excellent care and formed many friendships with the staff and community. Jack is survived by nephew Tony (Kathy) Wisse of Rosetown; nieces Margaret (Bob) Onufreychuk of Newmarket, ON, and Wendy (Duncan) Kendrich of New Richmond, BC; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John & Eliza Proctor; his sisters Dorothy (Tom) Wisse and Jean (Doug) Holmes and brother Ron Proctor. J.R. passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2005 at Kyle & District Health Care Centre at the age of 87 years. At his request there will be no services. Memorial donations may be directed to Kyle & District Health Care Centre. Clements' Rosetown Funeral Home entrusted with the arrangements.
