Prince Family Genealogy Forum

Hi Donna: I can appreciate your frustration concering the parents of your Cary Prince. I believe I am connected to the Princes of Habersham county Ga. through my ancestor, William Prince, a likely son of John Prince Sr. of that county. I have also pondered the question as to the parents of Cary Prince. What is very interesting is the fact that those Prince families, John Jr., John Sr., James, Joseph, and Cary were not only in that counties 1830 census but records indicate that they may have been there as early as 1824/25. Since they likely migrated from Union county SC together, I have been trying to place Cary with either James Prince or John Prince Jr.; Cary being a probable son. It is possible, but not likely, that Cary was a son of John Prince Sr., Rev. War Veteran of Habersham. We know James Prince had many sons according to various early censuses, but lack of records certainly do not help with ascertaining their identity. I do feel strongly that the other older male residing in the house of Cary Prince in 1830 was Ira H. Prince who married Caroline Bird in Habersham county in 1835. Of course, Cary was already married by the 1830 census. My best guess was that Cary and Ira were brothers. My direct ancestor was another, albeit younger, Ira H. Prince, son of William Prince of 1850 Habersham county. I have little doubt my Ira H. Prince was named for the older one. Researching the Princes of Habersham is an ongoing project for me. If I find anything of value for your research I will be happy to let you know. I wish I could be of more help. Ira P.Prince
