One of the mysteries in my family tree relates to Mary Prime Greenwood, who married George Kilminster at the Old Church St. Pancras, London in October 1854. When she died in Sydney in 1861 the informant on her Death Certificate ( her husband) did not or could not provide the names of her parents. On her marriage Certificate her father was given as John Greenwood, barrister-at-law, but neiter of the two men of that name and profession was her legitimate father, according to my research. Her middle name has suggested to me that, somewhere in her more immediate past, there was a Prime, and probably a female one. The other possibility I envisaged was that she was the first of a long line of children, but that virtually rules out illegitimacy. Mary and George gave Camden Villas, Kentish Town as their address at the time of their marriage, but, according to directories and rate information from September 1854, they were not permanent residents. They may have been lodgers or have been staying at the Murray Arms pub ( corner of St. Pauls Road and Murray Street). I would appreciate any thoughts, comments etc from the forum on Mary's parents Notify Administrator about this message?
