Kia ora! Hi! I'm a NZ Prime, adopted by Heremaia family & raised in Patea, South Taranaki. I'm looking for information on Samuel Prime who came to NZ between 1840-1860 & settled amongst the Ngati Hine people of the Ngapuhi Iwi. He married Ani Paki and had Henare, Haami and Te Piri Prime. [3 sons]. Henare went to Waitara, North Taranaki, Haami went to Auckland, but my father [one of his children] went on to settle in Patea South Taranaki, Te Piri remained amongst the Ngati Hine in Motatau just south west of Kawakawa. Dalvanius Prime and the Patea Maori Culture Club descend from Haami Prime of Samuel's 3 sons. We have only vague information relating to our ancestor. We have been told by our elders that: 1. Samuel's ancestory was Welsh 2. Came to NZ perhaps between 1840-1860 3. Uncertain if direct from Wales or via USA, Canada, England or Australia 4. Possibly was a whaler or sealer 5. Yet to find Samuel Prime on passenger list of ships coming to NZ during that period. 6. One elder thought that Samuel Prime had called in to Australia before coming to the Bay of Islands. Would appreciate any help possible. Thanks Pat Heremaia Kia ora Pat Heremaia Notify Administrator about this message?
