OK I know Priestley is a Yorkshire name but it looks like some of them crossed the Pennines. Sorry about that, these things happen. Mine I can trace back to the late 18th century in Preston; they later moved to Bolton. They were all sand moulders in the iron foundries, and each generation up to the 20th century had an Elijah/Elisha. What I'd really like to find out is when they crossed to Lancashire from (presumably) the Halifax area. The persistent use of Elisha as name of the eldest male may provide a clue. Can anyone help?
