saw your message on Genealogy.com and I think we’re related because I think my ggg grandmother, Janet, was your ggg grandfather, George’s, sister. My father was born in Prestonpans and his mother was called Mary Fraser. Her parents were Janet McKinlay, who married James Fraser of Prestonpans. (I have the dates if you’re interested). Janet McKinlay’s parents were, according to her marriage certificate, James McKinlay, who was born in 1818, and died in 1876, and Isabella Pryde. Isabella’s parents were William Pryde, a collier, and – it looks like – Ellen Kerr, on Isabella’s death certificate. On the McKinlay side, James McKinlay’s, Janet’s father, parents were George McKinlay, a collier, and his mother was Agnes and – it looks like – Duncan?
So, I think we share ggg grandparents, namely, James McKinlay, and Isabella Pryde.
I’ve just started researching this side of our family tree, so any information you can give me would be wonderful.
