You may have this information by now, but in case you don't; Virginia is the daughter of Asa Price Kuykendall. Asa is the son of Margaret Berry Kuykendall and an unproven William (?) Kuykendall who might(or might not) be the son of Simon Kuykendall, son of Abraham Kuykendall(1719) of Buncombe NC.( Abraham certainly isn't hard to find, just type in "pot of gold" in the K. family forum search box)At leastmost K.s think Simon had a son that was probably named William.I have seen your post about Virginia on the K.forum. I have been reading through the Price posts to see if I could find the connection to the Price family and I ran across this question here also, so I posted this follow up. There is a letter from Dyer testifying about Asa's service in the civil war. Sarah(Sallie)applied for his pension from Crawford county after Asa's death(1899 I think) when the government let Confederate widows apply.(1901) Margaret is a mystery also. I am still trying to figure out how it all fits together. She was purportedly born in Laurens or Chester co. SC around 1793-4.Asa's brother, William M.Kuy. also named a son Asa Price, who died young in Parker co. TX.(no spouse or children)
So that is three times in two generations the Price name was used so I think that makes it significant and worth tracking down, if it can be done. The "Berry" name is also unproven as far as I can tell. A couple of K. or related trees have her listed with a Berry family or two but as no proof or documentation has been offered, I take those to be guesses. No Berry family has claimed her that I am aware of.
Curious that they used Price for Virginia(1862). They named the first child William Elvert(1860)I don't know where the Elvert comes from. They named a later son Asa Jobe.Sarah's maiden name has not been found to my knowledge so if the name Jobe comes from her family it might have been reserved for another son.Or maybe Asa did notwant to chance not having another son and used Price with the second child, a girl. But that is pure conjecture. I also wonder if the name Virginia, used with Price, is significant. I see that a lot of the Price family started in Virginia. There again Virginia might come from Sarah's family. If any of the Price family has any clues or has any suggestions we would all love to hear it. Joe, I havea little more on Asa's children and the rest of his census information if you want or need it and haven't found this info.before now. I can be reached at [email protected] is my husband's ggg grandmother through William M.Kuy.(mentioned above) and then the daughters in the family.Well, that was a long answer to your question. Hope I didn't confuse you. Got to run, The Rangers are 4,Cardinals 4 and the Rangers are dropping balls like the little league and walking batters!! I am having trouble multi-tasking!
(oh yes, Where did you get 1853 for Virginia?)Regards Cindy
