After checking out a few sources, I do believe the Robert R. Price you point out is the father of John Ashlock Price who ended up in CA.Here are a few points that helped me make my decision:
1850 Census of Moniteau Co., MO (next door to Cooper Co., MO):Robert R. Price age 61 (b. ca. 1788 not 1776 as found on the cemetery headstone) b. VA with wife, Rebecca Price age 55 (b. 1795 agrees with cemetery headstone for her). Makes sense that if her maiden name were Ashlock, that she would name a son, John Ashlock Price.
1850 Census Yuba Co., CA I find John A. Price b. ca. 1827 KY and next door is a 37 year old male named H ? (hard to read) E. Price, also b. in KY.In my opinion, he was very likely a brother or relative who came to CA with him.
1880 Census Paskenta, Tehama Co., CA (next door to Glenn Co., CA) I find John A. Price b. KY and parents both b. in VA, wife, Frances M. Price b. MO.These are the children listed to them in that census with notes added by me and explained later:
Ardellage 23
John R.age 22 (John Robert)
Bellinghamage 21
Susan R.age 20
Stephen H.age 19 (Stephen Howard)
Mary E.age 16
Rhoda E.age 14
Elizabeth K.age 11 (Elizabeth Kendrick)
Fanny S.age 9
Burtt T.age 7
Jessie E.age 4
The Wilkes Family Tree on Ancestry names the above Elizabeth E. and Stephen H. as Elizabeth Kendrick Price and Stephen Howard Price. It also shows the father, John Ashlock Price, as being buried in Newville Cemetery. These three clues substantiate the 18th. century family Bible handed down and owned by David and Elizabeth Kellum Price.David has had his DNA tested, and it is the same as my two Price ancestors in the late 1700’s and early 1800’s in Franklin and Jessamine counties KY.
Elizabeth’s tree on Ancestry is called Price Family Tree. She has incorporated these Bible records into her site, and you can see Robert Wright Price was b. in 1788 and was the son of John and Elizabeth Kendrick Price, and brother to David's ancestor, Hezekiah.Their father, John, was the son of William Price and Elizabeth Wright, the first couple noted in the old family Bible. These Prices were living in Green Co., KY where the elder William Price’s will was probated in 1814.I also want to note that there were two Stephen Howards in David’s family tree, which shows that family name was also carried down other lines of the family.
I do own Vina Chandler's Price book, but I don't see this particular line back to John Price V, son of John Price IV and Hannah Williamson, to whom you refer. Can you point me please in the direction of some good documentation for my missing generations?
Thank you so much for your interest in my research and helping me further it.
Sincerely, Linda
