I, too, am looking for information about the Prevost family from Santo Domingo. Joseph Prevost b. c1807 and his two sisters, Margaret Amelia (Emma) b.1806, and Rose Prevost were born in Charleston, SC (I think). The family story is that they are children of a French sugar planter who escaped from Haiti? Martinique? following the slave rebellion, and moved to Charleston. The father, Joseph?, may have been killed, but the mother and children lived in Charleston.
Did you find your information from records from Haiti? The SC Archives are supposed to have information about the refugees from Santo Domingo into Charleston, but I haven't had a chance to see it yet.
