Dear Debbie,

I can tell you a fair amount about Henry and Philemon Preville. What do you want to know. I don't know all of thir decendents off the top of my head. I want to check with my mother to get more accurate information. Mother told me that Preville means "praire town."

Henry Preville, aka Pa, was a quiet introverted man. That could be because he was deaf with Minear's desease. It runs in our line of the family. His daughter, Retha, my grandmother, had it also. Since he was surrounded by so many women he spent his summers living alone in a small house across the street. Gram Preville was a wonderful, short, round earth mother. Everybody loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were always visiting her. Pa and Gram were even great-great-grandparents before they died. My cousin, Cynthia Myers, had a child when she was still a teenager. So for a couple of years there were 5 living generations in our line.

I saw your g-grandfather, Frank once. I must have been around 10, in the mid 50's. I was visiting Pa and Gram. Frank walked by their house. Someone mentioned to me who he was. I never talked to him. I barely remember him. No one ever talked about other Previlles' to me as I was growing up.

I'd be interested in any information you can give me about Adele Matte and the Matte ancestors. I'm most interested in the direct line.

Su
