I'm not sure this of any help but you gave me a clue that I did not have, the name of Joshua's father..John.
The Illinois Statewide Marriage Index 1763-1900 has a John Prettyman born abt 1805 in Delaware who married Mrs. Margaretta Heddin born abt 1827 in North Carolina on 30 Jun 1870.
They show up on the 1880 Camp Point, Adams County Census.
Are they one and the same? Not sure but it is a good possiblity. I am going to keep checking and if I find anything else I'll drop you a note.
