Mark,
Do you know where Jose Caroline is buried? If she is burid in Big Spring Cemetery then we might have a possible match. I have almost no information on Jose and have her listed as Josephine, simply because that is how she appears in the 1880 census records.

I'm not sure who gave ,most of this information. But here is what I have:

Notes for Elizabeth Matilda Arrington:
Elizabeth was the daughter of Isham Arrington and Mary Via and the sister of Sarah Melinda Arrington, who married James L. Prestridge. They were members of Big Springs Church in 1886. At the march 14, 1891, meting of Big Springs Church, they , along with James and Sarah Melinda and several others were granted letters of dismission. This probably was the time that Beulah Church, then located across the creek from the Abby Arrington place east of Omaha, was started. They were farmers and in 1900-1920, live west of where James and Sally Prestridge were living(where Clyde Smith now lives). They are buried at Big Springs Church Cemetery, Randolph County, Alabama (Thoams J. Freeman)

Mrs. Mozelle Gilmer “Nana” Prestridge died Saturday, November 22, 2003, at the Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville.
Born March 30, 1915, Mrs. Prestridge was the daughter of the late Albert L. and LaVada West Gilmer.
She was a homemaker and a member of Harmony Hall Baptist Church, Gainesville.
"She was a loving mother and grandmother and friend to all who knew her," said family members.

Mrs. Prestridge was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Warren Prestridge, and siblings, the Rev. David Gilmer, Lillie G. White, Edna G. Fuller, Nettie G. Cato, Mary G. Balest, Lee Gilmer and Deward Gilmer. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 24, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville, with the Rev. Doug Merck officiating. Burial was in the Harmony Hall Baptist Church Cemetery. Sam Chapman, Mitch Chapman, Don Cole, Jimmy Cole, Nelson Elrod and Eddie Gastley served as pallbearers.

Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Prestridge, Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Carol P. and Howard Cooper, Gainesville; grandchildren, Amy C. and Randall Brown, Pendergrass, and Betsy C. and Joel Garner, Buford; great-granddaughter, Melissa Annette Brown, Pendergrass; and several special nieces and nephews and many friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
Memorial Park Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Tommy Wayne Heard

(WOODLAND) Services for Tommy Wayne Heard, 57, of Woodland were Saturday, March 15, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Big Springs Baptist Church, with Bro. Mark Mitchell, the Rev. Earl Rollins and the Rev. Scott Hannah officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Heard died Thursday, March 13, at Wedowee Hospital following an extended illness.

A Randolph County native, Mr. Heard was born March 8, 1946, son of Frank Hubert and Lois Prestridge Heard. He was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church and had been a truck driver in the logging industry. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Bailey.

Survivors include his wife, Scarlett Hendrix Heard of Woodland; two sisters, Havtence Noles of Lake City, Ga., and Carolyn Smith of Roanoke; and two brothers, Bobby Jack Heard and Jathen Heard of Woodland.

Pallbearers were Tim Noles, Keith Smith, Michael Heard, Gary Heard, Jeff Farmer and Chris Hendrix.

Arrangements were by Benefield Funeral Home, Wedowee.
