Many thanks for your reply. It's very kind of you to offer to help, but I have quite a lot of info re local records, and have also a family bible with many details. Thomas was a twin to my GGGF, William Preston. It's interesting re your comments about the eldest, for, with our having the family bible, I always thought that my GGGF was the eldest. My problem is not so much going back but rather coming forward. I'd like to trace descendants of Thomas and of other siblings. So far had little success.
