Edward Robie Preston, b. 12 May 1822, Rumney NH, s. Benjamin and Ann (Robie) Preston, d. 1873 at Natick, Mass; m. 1852, Clarinda Ellen Kent, b. 28 Aug 1830, Spencer, Mass., dau. John and Almira (Hill) Kent. She d. 1878. Edward and Clarinda (Kent) Preston are buried at Rumney Depot Cemetery, Rumney, Grafton Co., NH.

Edward and Clarinda had seven children. Two of their children are known to have died unmarried; one daughter married but did not leave descendants. Their son Edward had issue and some information has been gathered about his family. Continuing information about two of Edward and Clarinda's sons, John Franklin Preston and Frederick Grant Preston, seems elusive.
