William and Thomas Preston, twins b 1815 Downham, Lancs

My GGGF, William Preston, was born in Downham, Lancs, in 1815. He had a twin brother, Thomas. Am in contact with someone who has a Thomas Preston born in Downham in 1815. He married Ann Hewitt on 15/1/1837, and it is known that they had 3 children, all born in Chorlton: William, b 1838, Sarah, b 1840, and John, b 1842. Have no evidence to denote that my contact's Thomas and my Thomas are one and the same. Very grateful for any info denoting whether or not contact's Thomas is my Thomas.
