Hannah Preston m. 1870 Northumberland, Ont. to John Henry Taylor
I am looking for ancestors or descendants of John Henry Taylor (b. abt. Apr. 29, 1848 - d. June 30, 1920), who grew up near Heckmondwike, Yorkshire, England. I believe John Henry's father was John Taylor (b. btw 1795 to 1816 in Heckmondwike or nearby Liversedge in the registration district of Dewsbury, West Yorkshire).
The son, John Henry Taylor (b. 1848) married twice. His first marriage was to Hannah Preston on August 18, 1870, in Wicklow, Northumberland, Ontario. John Henry Taylor and Hannah Preston had two daughters, Sarah Hannah Taylor (b. in Ontario) and Rachel Ann Taylor (b. abt. 1873 in Batley, Yorkshire).
Unfortunately, Hannah Preston died prematurely and John Henry Taylor married his second wife, Hannah Wilkins (b. 1850 in Irechester, Northampton), likely abt. 1878. They had four children: Basil (b. 1879 in Batley, Yorkshire), Fred Lawson, Albertha and Mary Louise (b. 1886). In 1881, John Henry Taylor lived with Hannah Wilkins, in the hamlet of Staincliffe (Lower) in Batley, Yorkshire, England.
In 1882, John Henry, his second wife and children travelled from Batley, Yorkshire, across the Atlantic to Canada and lived for some years in McKellar, in the County of Parry Sound, Ontario. The family then returned to Heckmondwike later on where John Henry worked in a woollen mill.
Our ancestor, Fred Lawson Taylor (b. Aug. 12, 1881 in Heckmondwike - d. 1969) returned to Parry Sound, Ontario and married his wife there, Alice Lillian North on June 23, 1906. Fred L. Taylor and his wife then went to Saskatchewan to homestead in 1908.
