Greetings Everybody who is related to the Pesnell/Garner family in Cleburne (Benton, Randolph, Calhoun Co.) Alabama. Let me straighten out one little piece of misinformation. It is true that Lucy Ann Garner married Elijah Pesnell. It is true that Lucy Ann Garner was the daughter of Thomas Jefferson Garner. Thomas Jefferson Garner was married twice. His first wife was Nancy Wyatt. She was NOT the daughter of Mary Abigail (not Ann) Walker and George Washington Manley. I believe that T. J. and Nancy Wyatt were married while living in Carroll Co. GA. They had several children. They did live in Cleburne Co. Ala. (The county changed names several time and some of these people are listed as living in different counties but they never moved. Now, here is what I want everybody to know. Thomas Jefferson Garner married the second time to Nancy Ann Manley Garner. This Nancy Ann Manley Garner was the daughter of Mary A. Walker Manley and George Washington Garner. She was not the first wife. T.J. Garner and Nancy Ann Manley had a son named Charles Edwin Garner. Charlie married Elizabeth Phillips first and they had 5 children before Elizabeth died. My mother was one of these children. Later, he married Ramoth Pritchett (?) and had two additional children. One son of Lucy and Elijah Pesnell was named William Thomas Pesnell, not Willaim J. Pesnell. He married my grandmother who was Della Nora Pirkle York. Bill (William T. Pesnell) was my father's stepfather. I knew Bill and I knew Della and I knew their 3 children. My father has told stories about Jim Pesnell, Joe Pesnell, and Poly (Napoleon) Pesnell. We pronounced the name Pes nell. When members of that family moved away from Cleburne Co. area, people would pronounce it PESS' nel. I like it when the sound is run together. Just want to keep all you people honest. Happy researching. Notify Administrator about this message?
