In looking more at the Lewis Presley b.1799, SC and son Levi b.1840, SC in 1850 census Attala Co, MS....the presence of my Levi b.1832 in Rankin Co, MS might just turn out to be a coincidence. Lewis and his brother William b.1804, SC are listed in the 1830 and 1840 censuses of Union Co, SC. Their father is Charles Presley, who is listed in the 1810 and 1820 censuses of Union Co, SC.

William also had a son Levi Presley, who also born in 1840 SC. William and his family can be found in the 1860 census of St Clair, AL.

I might have a hint who the Levi Presley was in the 1841 State census of MS in Madison County. There is a Levi Presley b.1820/22, SC in the 1850 census of Morehouse Parish, LA and the 1860 census of DeSoto Parish, LA. I think it likely that he was a brother of Charles and William. His first two children were named Charles and William.

The biggest problem that I have with associating my Levi Pressley b.1832 with this family is that there is nothing to indicate that my Levi had any ties to SC. Everything before MS is saying GA and NC.
